Description:
This course is designed to provide dentists with the foundation for improving their day-to-day practice. A significant part of the course is devoted to dissection of pertinent regions of the head and neck.
This course should teach participants to discuss/describe: Radiological Anatomy of the Head (to include Panograms); Clinical Anatomy and Pathophysiology of TMJ (expanded to include Arthrography, CT, MRI, and Microscopic Study of Joint Components by participants); Anatomy, Histology of Maxillary Sinus and Surgical Access for Sinus Augmentation; Current Knowledge on Bone Grafts and Their Clinical Applications to Implants; Clinical Anatomy of Local Anesthesia (to include Gow Gates Technique); Neurological Examination of the Head; Nerve Response to Injury and Post Traumatic Neuralgia; Anatomical Basis of Emergency Treatment; Surgical Spaces of the Head and Neck and Spread of Dental Infection; Surgical Anatomy of the Floor of the Mouth with Emphasis on Nerves and Arteries that Need Protection During Impant Insertion.
The course will include a laboratory exercise where interested participants will insert implants in cadaver jaws and access intraoral bones and maxillary sinuses.
