Indicators - signify what has happened by evidence of damage (probing depths, mobility patterns, and bone loss on x-rays).

Predictors - signify what probably will happen in the future without any changes in behavior (plaque score, bleeding score, regularity of the long term maintenance program).

Applying these parameters through the dynamics of patient co-discovery allows the patient's risk profile to be updated periodically and described in very simple terms.
