Dental CE Course: AC 101

This course includes a comprehensive overview of orthodontics, how to introduce orthodontics into a practice and what it can mean to the doctor's patients, himself, and his practice. Step by step procedures are reviewed for discussing orthodontics with the parent. The instructor goes through treatment records which are required for orthodontics, and how to prepare the patient for banding and bonding. Students will be furnished direct bond brackets and have the opportunity to place and bond the brackets on a dental cast as a practical exercise. Banding and direct bonding appointments are discussed in detail and students participate in practical exercises covering the beginning mechanical techniques required for orthodontic treatment. The student will also be introduced to the diagnostic arch, sectionals, full arches, and loop formation. The course will include an introduction to diagnosis, with discussion of diagnostic arch form, horizontal freeway, vertical freeway, centric, skeletal patterns, dental patterns, stability patterns, function, development patterns, sexual patterns, racial patterns, growth factors, age factors, cooperation, consultation forms, treatment plans and tooth positioning.
