This course is designed to prepare the dentist to incorporate the techniques of intravenous conscious sedation into the dental practice. To accommodate American Dental Association Guidelines, the course is designed to extend over ten days, with a total of 119.50 hours of continuing education credit: 62.5 hours of didactic instruction and 57 clinical hours.This should be an intensive, informative and enjoyable educational experience for all of us. You will provide sedation, monitoring and if indicated, treatment of patients. You will start and you will place the IV catheter, administer the drugs and monitor the patients.We provide you with targeted direction throughout the course:We will concentrate on preparing you for the type of examination you may be required to take to achieve your certification; we will cover the office needs, training your staff and preparing for emergencies; we will cover the more common emergencies that may be encountered; we will role play the scenarios you may have to manage; and we will take you through mannequin simulation on an interactive mannequin for drug, sedation emergencies and airway management.
