Description:
Caries Risk Assessment and Management, Including Non-Surgical and Surgical Treatments
More and more, dentists are faced with patients who have significant dental caries. These patients can be very challenging to treat, but there are ways to stop the caries process, restore lost tooth structure and help patients take control of their oral health. Traditional approaches need to be expanded to include the systematic management of caries risk with an emphasis on prevention. However, it's no longer just about fluoride and oral hygiene instruction. There are new ways to actively (and effectively) manage caries risk. This program will discuss epidemiology of caries, current evidence on the caries disease process, and new ways to diagnose, prevent and treat caries. It will also present a common-sense approach to caries risk assessment and management that can be implemented in practice.

Understanding the categories, composition and properties of these materials and specifically how they work, can help the practitioner make choices that will lead to long-term success. Tips for materials selection, handling, finishing and maintenance of esthetic restorations will be provided.
