Digital Radiology saves time, money and effort, improving the flow of information in and outside the dental office. Patients are pleased with the decreased dose of ionizing radiation and ability to view radiographs almost immediately. Office staff is pleased with the reduced need for handling chemicals and cleaning processors. Recently, a new class of Head and Neck CT/Dental CT was introduced - Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) or Cone Beam Volumetric Tomography (CBVT), the technology makes advanced 3D imaging available to the dental profession. Images produced are useful in diagnostic and treatment-planning situations including implant placements, orthodontic analysis and viewing impacted third molars. The course will provide an introduction to Cone Beam Technology,some examples of applications, and basic interpretation of these images.
