Description:

Direct composites in the anterior dentition can provide the most conservative and affordable restorations for our patients, while maintaining a high level of aesthetics. Many practitioners have been frustrated and overwhelmed by the techniques, composite systems, color and instrument choices available today. This has even led to some practitioners not offering larger class IV and direct composite veneer restorations in their practices.

In this program, we will explore and overcome some of the challenges that we face every day in our practices, following an actual case that has been treated with class III-IV restorations and direct composite veneers in the anterior dentition. Beginning with an exploration of our perception of color and how that perception is affected, we will apply simplified color mapping techniques for predictable, aesthetic results. A variety of cases will be presented for discussion and application of mapping, placement and finishing protocols.

In the hands-on portion of the program, we will put the morning's concepts into practical application. Participants will experience lingual putty matrix fabrication, blueprinting and color mapping for success, polychromatic layering techniques and simplified finishing protocols.

Course Objectives - As a result of attending this course, the dentist should be able to:

  • Describe color mapping for results and simplicity
  • Utilize a lingual putty technique that takes the guess work out of anatomical build-ups and helps make incisal characterization more predictable
  • Recognize simplified instrumentation and techniques, from placement to finishing
  • Explore use of brushes for anterior composites mastery
  • Apply simplified polishing protocols
  • Discuss fee considerations in everyday practice

Per day tuition increases by $10 per participant if registering after April 10.
