This course is designed for registered dental hygienists and dental assistants to safelyand effectively administer and monitor nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation as a pain controlstrategy in a dental practice. Illinois law allows the registered dental hygienist toadminister nitrous oxide and dental assistants to monitor patients receiving nitrousoxide/oxygen sedation under the general supervision of a licensed dentist. The dentistmust be present in the facility at the time of treatment.
