Description:

Properly performed endodontic treatment is the cornerstone of restorative and reconstructive dentistry. Yet, many endodontically treated teeth are failing for a variety of reasons. The vast majority of these failures can be successfully retreated nonsurgically. Are your treatment choices limited by training? Do you have the knowledge, confidence, and the essential technologies to perform successful retreatment? Would you like to expand your practice potential?

Course Objectives:

A review of root canal system anatomy and its role in endodontic prognosis is followed by a systematic analysis of those factors commonly implicated in endodontic failure. Evidence-based procedures will be clearly demonstrated utilizing the most proven, effective, and state-of-the-art techniques. Multi-disciplinary treatment planning, case selection, and retreatment fees will be emphasized in order to improve your clinical results, professional satisfaction, and profitability. This advanced program is designed for the dental team whose vision is the long-term retention of critically essential teeth.

Participant Objectives:

At the completion of this program, you will be able to:

  • Compare survival rates between the restored, retreated tooth and the dental implant.

  • Contrast the various devices for removing fixed restoratives intact.

  • Utilize "microsonic" procedures to remove core materials from the pulp chamber.

  • Locate and successfully treat previously missed canals.

  • List the various strategies and techniques for removing obturation materials.

  • Differentiate the safest and most predictably successful methods for eliminating posts.

  • Contrast the methods and identify the techniques to safely remove broken instruments.

  • Solve iatrogenic events by negotiating blocks and bypassing ledges.

  • Recite the armamentarium required to manage apical transportations and perforations.

  • Identify the technologies, instruments, and materials utilized for successful retreatment.
