Course Title: Adult Orthodontics in the 21st Century: Are you prepared? Instructor: VINCE KOKICH, D.D.S., M.S.D.Course Date: September 21 - 24, 2011 Reasons to join this course: Due to the growing demands for esthetics and complex rehabilitations, the demand for adult orthodontics is rapidly increasing. This puts new challenges on the orthodontic practitioner. In the past, orthodontists primarily treated children and adolescents. Although “finishing†in these young patients is still a challenge, it is always easier to achieve an excellent result in a patient with all natural teeth and a young resilient periodontium. Today, however, orthodontists are treating more adults. They often have underlying periodontal defects, abraded teeth, missing teeth, and other periodontal and restorative problems that compromise the final result. Should we apply the same guidelines to both, the dentulous adolescent and the compromised adult patient? Probably not, but …... How to accommodate to and deal with the differing needs of adult patients? How to gain valuable information regarding proper planning and treatment for the complicated adult cases? The first part of this course is dedicated to: • Management of single-tooth implants, implant anchorage, and impactions • Ortho-perio issues, including, but not limited to proper diagnosis and treatment of patients with osseous and soft tissue defects The second part of this course will emphasizes on: • Orthodontic finishing, especially as it relates to the patient with significant restorative needs • Anterior dental esthetics and establishing the appropriate occlusal scheme for adult patients The benefits for you: • The course subjects go far beyond adult orthodontics • One-on-one mentoring with a world renowned instructor • Return to your practice with confidence and enthusiasm This four-day course will cover the important issues that confront the contemporary orthodontist who is responsible for treating adults and also will be valuable to treatment of any adolescent patient. Jul 22, 2011 So much learned and so much to implement into my implant practice on Monday. Understanding biology behind implant dentistry helped me understand the reason for performing procedures. Not until now do I completely feel that I have a firm grasp on the science...
