Prerequisites: Facially Generated Treatment Planning, Occlusion in Clinical Practice

Course Objectives

A definitive diagnosis lets you take initial treatment steps on patients you may have previously referred, with very clear expectations for therapy. Learn clinical evaluation skills using observation, examination and testing equipment to make differential diagnoses of temporomandibular disorders. All participants will experience night-time clenching testing and multiple appliances, and select participants will undergo joint vibration analysis, EMG recordings and jaw tracking. All will learn first-hand how to take the information from the analysis and appliances to the teeth in developing appropriate occlusion.

Hands-on Exercises:

-Record and utilize a protrusive record for condylar guidance

-Deliver and adjust a full-coverage hard appliance

-Deliver and adjust a full-coverage soft appliance

-Utilize EMG and JVA as diagnostic tools

-Plan and execute complex occlusal adjustments on models

Participants Will Learn:

-Differential diagnosis of TMD

-Evaluation of muscles and joints in complex cases

-Developing individualized expectations for therapy

-Selecting the appropriate appliance

-Delivery and adjustment of anterior bite plane, full arch hard and full arch soft appliances

-Occlusal design and equilibration skills for complex cases
