In this course, Dr. Klempner will focus on the use of early functional jaw orthopedics in correction of Class l, Class ll and Class lll malocclusions. His unique three dimensional comprehensive approach to Phase 1 treatment will be discussed with emphasis on arch development and skeletal growth modification in the sagittal, transverse and vertical dimensions. The Schwartz, Sagittal, Twin Block and Tandem appliances as well as alternative fixed appliances will be demonstrated. A review of the current evidenced-based literature will be presented and numerous before and after clinical cases will be presented.
Learning Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
* Understand the objectives of early treatment
* Diagnose skeletal vs. dental problems
* Select appropriate appliances based on diagnosis
* Understand the optimal time to initiate treatment
* Evaluate effectiveness of early treatment
