Dental CE Course: Combining Anterior Esthetics with Posterior Occlusion: State of the Art and Science

The purpose of this course is to review current literature on occlusal principles used in fixed Prosthodontics. Does the current literature support canine guidance or group function? How much does mutually protected occlusion really protect and from what? Should occlusal schemes be different for osseointegrated implants? How does posterior occlusion affect anterior restorations? What are the currents philosophies of the different schools of thought and why do they think that way?
At the completion of the course participants will be able to:
Know why to emphasize posterior occlusion for every anterior esthetic case
Understand the importance of the Centric Relation Record and different ways to record it
Know when the vertical dimension of occlusion can be altered and how to know if the patient will tolerate it
Know how to create anterior guidance and protect anterior restorations at the same time
Explain whether implants change the approach to occlusion
Effectively communicate with their laboratory technician
