Synopsis:
The opinions of many clinicians have been undergoing a paradigm shift in how they should restore teeth, moving away from the full crown into a multi-component restoration, a concept that has a particularly useful application in the treatment of root caries. In this program we describe a restoration that replicates the biologic and elastic properties of the intact tooth in what is now being termed, "Biomimetic Dentistry." In my opinion these restorations are much simpler and produce more predictable outcomes.

Description of Speaker:
Dr. Randall G. Cohen is in private practice of cosmetic and restorative dentistry in Bucks County, PA since his graduation from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1982. He lectures nationally, and has authored numerous papers on adhesive dentistry.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to achieve the following:
•1. List the fundamentals of biomimetic dentistry
•2. Treat selected root caries cases without the need for surgery
•3. Describe proper caries removal
•4. Understand the rationale for placement of fiber netting and flowable composite against the cut dentin surface.
•5. Understand how biomimetic dentistry simplifies dental procedures

I prefer a course that I can go to and get some hands on experience, but occasionally I do an online course just to sharpen up on something. I almost always go to dentaltown.com for those courses.
