Dental CE Course: Dental Adhesion: Principles, Practicals and Profit

Learn how to use modern dental adhesive systems for a wide range of dental applications, and acquire specific clinical techniques to restore the previously hopeless fractured tooth. During this course, Dr. Richard Goldman will present a comprehensive yet easy-to-understand explanation of what actually happens when you bond to dentin, enamel, cementum, metal, plastics or ceramics. He will also talk about what can go wrong when a clinician attempts to bond without understanding the process. Dr. Shiro Suzuki will then discuss the role dental adhesion plays in the particularly difficult challenge of saving a fractured tooth. He will prove it is quite possible to save teeth that were previously lost due to fracture using reliable materials such as dentin/enamel bonding agents, self-etching primers and durable resin cements in conjunction with restorative components such as direct composite restorations, fiber posts and cores, and bonded bridges.

Course Objectives

After completing this course, the dental professional should be able to:

- Have an understanding of modern dental adhesive systems
- Know how to adhesively bond to all dental materials
- Understand why dental adhesion works, as well as why it occasionally fails
- Gain specific clinical techniques for restoring fractured teeth
- Handle simple and complex tooth fractures, including restoration of endodontically treated or even traumatically extracted teeth

Additional Course Information

The course will include hands-on exercises in creating a direct-bonded bridge using a 4-META bonding system; restoring an endodontically treated tooth using a new, bonded fiber post system; and learning the proper techniques for using adhesive systems based upon innovative, ultra-reliable 4-META bonding chemistry.

Attendees will receive samples of many useful clinical products (including Sun Medical's Brush&Bond, and Parkell's BluSep™, Blu-Mousse®, Absolute Dentin™ and SHARP™ Wash) for immediate use upon return to the dental practice.
