Instrumentation covers access, proper depth measurement techniques to avoid perforation of the floor, reading the map of the floor as an aid in finding all the canals, canal preparations in the apical, middle and coronal thirds consistent with good mechanical cleansing, techniques and instruments that virtually eliminate instrument separation and canal distortion, the details of an approach that uses instruments that significantly improve tactile perception giving the dentist the ability to differentiate between a solid wall and a tight canal as well as a round versus oval canal. Proper irrigation techniques will also be discussed relating its optimization to adequate initial shaping. The use of ultrasonics, sonics and rapid reciprocating tools will demonstrate the various ways of activating the irrigants. With the emphasis on instrumentation, we will then show how we create a three dimensional fill in the space shaped for obturation rapidly and accurately. We will then show our approaches to restoring endodontically treated teeth, using posts where necessary and discussing what we believe are the optimum designs of posts for long term successful restorations
