Course content
While there are many recommended protocols for fixed implant solutions for the edentulous patient that appear to accelerate treatment time and reduce cost, some protocols, if not well managed, may be at the expense of the best treatment outcome for the patient. The main objective of this course is to provide attendees with a repeatable and predictable method in delivering an immediate and delayed screw-retained, full-arch fixed bridge.
During this session, decision trees and clinical cases will be presented to provide guidelines for treatment of edentulous patients as well as patients with ”hopeless” dentition. In addition, tools to evaluate the cost and fee structure for implant service will be discussed. The hands-on portion will focus on how to restore fully edentulous patients with as few as four implants in a cost-effective way.
At the completion of this program, participants will be able to:
•Understand project management of implant therapy.
•Recognize opportunity costs and the impact on best treatment outcomes and productivity.
•Identify clinical pathways for a screw-retained fixed prosthesis for the atrophic edentulous patient.
•Understand protocols for full-arch tooth replacement.
•Evaluate the cost of care for the edentulous patient.
Hands-on:
•Prepare a complete denture for duplication to be used as a radiographic template.
•Identify the ideal location for implant placement and how to prepare a duplicate denture for use as a surgical guide.
•Take an abutment-level impression.
•Review the fabrication of a master cast.
•Construct a confirmation jig and demonstrate its use.
•Fabricate a conversion prosthesis.
