Dental CE Course: First Impressions Do Count! Impressions and Provisionals: No Fuss--No Muss! & Creating the Aesthetic Restoration

Morning Course

This hands-on presentation is designed to familiarize the participants with the latest methodology, advantages and techniques for proper impressions and fabrication of temporaries or provisional restorations. With so many materials available in the marketplace, it is often difficult to choose what is best for any given situation. Considerations of cost, ease of use, and clean-up, and of course, patient comfort, are key elements in selecting the right material for use. Techniques will be simple and easy to follow. State-of-the-art materials require almost no mixing and/or counter clean-up. The materials are virtually tasteless, quick setting, and can be used with a variety of techniques. The instructor will demonstrate several materials and their applications. Participants will then utilize models to practice various techniques, using a variety of impression materials, composite resins, and the latest bisacryl resin technology. Light and selfcuring composite materials will be demonstrated for ease of use in creating aesthetic temporaries for porcelain laminated veneers, inlay/onlays, crowns, and bridges.

Learning objectives

* To learn the different types of impression materials
* To learn how to take a good impression
* To learn how to make a provisional restoration for crown, bridge, inlay/onlay and porcelain laminate veneer (without bonding)

Afternoon Course

This will be a program integrating didactic material and hands-on experience with anterior and posterior composites. Participants will be offered an opportunity to explore the technique of layering and blending composite shades to ensure an aesthetic result using the latest state-of-the-art composite resins. Suggestions on the use and securing of a matrix, as well as finishing and polishing will also be discussed and demonstrated. Participants will have a firsthand opportunity to try these techniques on models.
