Dental CE Course: Infection Control w/ OSHA

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to: List and define important terms in Infection Control. Describe diseases like Tuberculosis, Hepatitis B, and AIDS; Give the rationale for immunization against the Hepatitis B Virus; List the common forms of barrier techniques and the rationale for each; Describe correct aseptic technique for dental procedures; List the steps in correct instrument processing to achieve sterility. • Describe an ideal chemical disinfectant. • Describe the most commonly used sterilization methods, and list the pros and cons of each. • Explain good sterile technique to be used in a dental laboratory. • Explain the main points from the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. • Explain the Hazard Communication Standard. • Write an office Exposure Control Plan specific to an individual practice including all items of re-cord keeping required by OSHA.
