Dental CE Course: Introduction to Digital Radiography

Are you interested in using digital radiography in your clinical practice or do you have a system and want to learn more? This course is an introduction to digital radiography designed to enable the dental office team to understand the basic concepts of digital radiography. Principles of image formation, display, and processing will be discussed as well as available technologies, advantages and disadvantages. Three-dimensional imaging will also be introduced.
At the completion of the course participants will be able to:
Discuss the definition and characteristics of a digital image
Compare and contrast various types of Dental Digital Radiography Systems
Differentiate between Photostimulable phosphor (PSP) and Charge Couple Device (CCD) and Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) technologies
Know the principles of image formation with PSP, CCD and CMOS technology
Understand Image Display and Image Processing in Digital Radiography
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of Digital Radiography
Recognize practical applications of digital imaging in the modern dental practice
Be familiar with three dimensional imaging - Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT).
