Dental CE Course: Motivational Communication

The two most common dental diseases, caries, and perodontal disease, are preventable. So educating patients about these conditions is an important job for every oral health care provider. This course introduces you to a new way of educating your patients - motivational interviewing. This technique has been used to educate patients about weight management, exercising, and tobacco cessation. Studies show this approach can also be very successful in motivating patients to practice proper dental hygiene. The course will demonstrate how you can use this technique. You will have opportunities to analyze videotaped interactions between patients and providers and also engage in this process.
