Dental CE Course: Orthodontic Treatment Based on Occlusal Plane Control:

Course Title: Orthodontic Treatment Based on Occlusal Plane Control: A Key for Successful Treatment of Different Types of Malocclusion with or without Dysfunctional Problems Instructor:SADAO SATO, D.D.S, D.D.Sc.Course Date: August 21 – 26, 2011Reasons to join this course: The primary focus in most orthodontic treatment is towards teeth and occlusion. Unfortunately, function is not the main concern. However, based on functional analysis, there are many cases which should avoid tooth extractions and surgical intervention. The importance to characterize malocclusion and to understand the role of occlusion plays a major role in order to make a correct diagnosis and treatment plan. Occlusal Plane and Malocclusion Growth of the craniofacial structures is dependent upon the principles of occlusal plane and mandibular adaptation. Prof. Sato’s studies had indicated that the steep cant of the posterior occlusal plane induces a backward rotation of the mandible. A forward adaptation of the jaw is readily observed on those having a flat plane of occlusion. The development of skeletal malocclusions such as Class II, Class III and MLD cases are clearly dictated by their respective occlusal plane configurations. This is because the neuromuscular system adapts to the function of articulation followed by skeletal adaptation. Therefore, the control of the vertical dimension of the posterior teeth is necessary in the treatment of malocclusions. This 6 Day “Orthodontic Marathon” covers in details: • Development of skeletal Class III - open bite malocclusion and its orthodontic treatment without surgery • Mandibular lateral displacement (MLD) malocclusion, its development and treatment • Problems in Class II malocclusion and mandibular adaptation treatment • Diagnosis of malocclusion: ODI/APDI, Articulator, Axiograph; Occlusion concept for orthodontists • Sequence of orthodontic treatment; step by step • Concept and rules of functional occlusion for orthodontists • Diagnosis for functionally disturbed patients • Application of articulator, Bruxchecker, and axiography • Diagnosis of cranio-mandibular system using axiography • Orthodontic treatment of malocclusion with dysfunctional problems • Allostasis and occlusion medicine • New aspects of modern gnathology based on sleep bruxism • Wire bending (MEAW) practice and treatment mechanics • Summary of malocclusion treatment • Presentation of complex cases The benefits for you: Reduce surgical cases - Reduce tooth extractions - Reduce your treatment time dramatically For more Course Information Copy and Visit this link: http://www.ideausa.net/lecturers_courses_details_faculty.asp?guid={2BF04CB1-14F0-449C-80E6-4F20F3D13846}&category=1

So much learned and so much to implement into my implant practice on Monday. Understanding biology behind implant dentistry helped me understand the reason for performing procedures. Not until now do I completely feel that I have a firm grasp on the science...
