This course will describe the relevance of prevention classification and treatment of periodontal and gingival diseases in children. Dentists must consider the possibility of encountering all types of oral diseases that may affect the systemic and mental development of children and adolescents, including gingival and periodontal diseases. This seminar provides a comprehensive review on several aspects of gingival and periodontal diseases in children and adolescents such as: their relevance, diagnosis and treatment, the sequential appearance of these diseases at various ages in the same individual, recognition of individuals, families, and populations at risk, conservative approach to gingival recession, and the intimate connection between the systemic condition and the gingival and periodontal tissues. These subjects will be covered with a review of the literature and multiple clinical examples.
