A hands-on session in hand instrument sharpening and use of a variety of curets along with the hands-on use of power scaling instruments is included. Course instructors will also discuss the limits of hygiene therapy (scaling and root planing) and provide suggestions on when to recommend additional periodontal therapy.
Course objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
* Identify, use, and sharpen periodontal hand instruments
* Effectively handle power periodontal instruments
* Motivate patients to perform excellent in-home care techniques by familiarizing participants with effective patient communication
