The purpose of this course is to review the basic principles of Removable Partial Prosthodontics based on evidence-based dentistry. The course will address the treatment of patients requiring a Removable Partial Denture (RPD) in the light of current and classic scientific literature. Participants will acquire the knowledge to treatment plan patients requiring an RPD and be able to design the best possible partial denture after collecting available data and applying the knowledge gained from review of Prosthodontic literature. The course will discuss the supportive role of the dental laboratory in the fabrication of an RPD and tools for effective communication with the dental lab.
At the completion of the course participants will be able to:
Perform evidence-based treatment planning; survey and design of the RPD
Prepare the mouth of the RPD patient and survey abutment crowns
Make good impressions, each time predictably
Write a good and easy to understand laboratory prescription
Provide a highly personalized partial denture utilizing a contemporary tooth selection process and tooth positioning concepts
