Dental CE Course: Safer Oral Surgery for the General Practitioner - Pre-treatment Evaluation and Decision Making

This program will help you understand what you need to know before performing oral surgery on your patient. Dr. Veaco will start with the basics by defining the scope of practice and then lead you through an appropriate and comprehensive medical evaluation that addresses:
Does the patient require prophylactic antibiotics?
Can the patient tolerate local anesthesia?
Is the patient at risk for excessive postoperative bleeding?
Is the patient at risk for problems with healing?
Head and neck radiation therapy
Oral and intravenous bisphosphonate therapy
Does the patient have any allergies?
Are there any potential drug interactions?
Is the patient pregnant or breast feeding?
Next, Dr. Veaco will show you how to develop a "wrong tooth, wrong site, wrong procedure, wrong person dental treatment" prevention protocol. Last, Dr. Veaco will go over the quantum theory of stress and negativity and coping with the added stress of a surgical practice.
