Featured Speakers

Alan R. Furness, DMD, received his degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. After an AEGD residency in the Navy, he purchased a practice in Charleston, SC where he began placing CAD/CAM restorations using Cerec 3D. While maintaining a private practice and serving as an adjunct faculty member at MUSC, he has also provided consulting on integration and implementation of computerized technology. He joined MCG as an Instructor in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation.

Kevin D. Plummer, DDS, associate professor in the MCG School of Dentistry Department of Oral Rehabilitation, earned his dental degree from Emory University and completed postgraduate prosthodontics training in the U.S. Army, where he served 21 years in the Dental Corps as a consultant to the U.S. Army Surgeon General in infection control, OSHA compliance and dental laboratory operations. He is certified by the American Board of Prosthodontics. Dr. Plummer chairs the MCG School of Dentistry Infection Control and Hazards Committee and is a member of the MCG Institutional Chemical Safety Committee. He is the section chief of removable prosthodontics and course director of preclinical removable partial dentures and preclinical complete dentures. He is the clinical course director of the Treatment Planning Board and Prosthodontics Clinic. He is an author/editor of Textbook of Complete Dentures (People's Medical Publishing House, 2009).
