Dental CE Course: Seventh Annual Oral Cancer Symposium

The course speakers will present and discuss the most recent information concerning oral cancer including the casual and causal factors associated with the increasing incidence of oral squamous cell carcinoma as well as its current epidemiologic data.
Other course objectives include understanding the pros and cons of current and novel oral cancer screening and diagnostic aids available to the dental professional; be able to perform the proper technique of a thorough visual and palpation extraoral and intraoral examination of the head and neck's soft tissues; understand the nature and clinical appearance of subtle oral premalignancies as well as early squamous cell carcinoma; know current treatment modalities for oral cancer; monitor a patient's salivary gland hypofunction and xerostomia; and, learn specific over-the-counter medicaments and prescription drug regimens clinicians can use to manage the oral cancer patient's side effects and complications of their treatment (i.e., dry mouth, mucositis, candidiasis).
During the last portion of the symposium there will be a question and answer session with the symposium's presenters.
