Dental CE Course: The Dentist and Sleep Disorders: a Multi-Disciplinary Approach

Snoring and Sleeping Disorders breathing affect millions of people in this country. The alert dentist should be able to screen his patient population and recognize signs and symptoms. This and the ability to treat some cases would allow dentists to be an integral member of the diagnostic and treatment team, along with their medical colleagues. The dentist’s role in management of obstructive sleep apnea and upper airway resistance syndrome are growing at an extraordinary rate. Oral appliance therapy is a well-accepted means of treatment for many patients and in some cases the treatment of choice. Dr. Smith will demonstrate how the dentist ‘s role in the use of oral appliances can become a rewarding and profitable part of dental practice. In addition to informative lectures there will be demonstrations on correct procedures for taking a bite registration using the George Gauge and the use of the Pat_100 home sleep monitoring device for evaluation of sleep progress.
