Sleep medicine as a specialty has burgeoned in the last 20 years, yet it remains a relatively young discipline within the field of dentistry. It has relevance over a wide range of other specialties including pulmonary medicine, cardiology, psychiatry and neurology, and significant impact on public health aspects such as driving, work performance and hypertension. Dentists contribute significantly to the care of a sleep disordered patient.  

To be able to effectively practice in this area as a specialist in sleep disorders dentistry, it is important to have a solid grasp of the basics of adult sleep medicine.  This course aims to provide a basic foundation in sleep science, including the diagnosis, treatment and management of the more common adult sleep disorders.
